Avril Lavigne has packed a lot into her 20 years. Born in Napanee, Ontario, Lavigne began writing songs early and was a regular performer at state fairs as a young teen. Record industry legend L.A. Reid signed her to Arista Records and by 17 she had topped the charts with the album Let Go, which included pop-punk singles US No.1’s Complicated, Sk8r Boi, and I’m With You.
Lavigne’s success continued with the slightly less angsty follow-up Under My Skin in May 2004. The album includes the singles Don’t Tell Me (May 2004), My Happy Ending (Aug 2004), and Nobody’s Home (Nov 2004).
