One of the most amazing musical events of 2004 has now produced one of the most newsworthy BRIT nominations of 2005. Brian Wilson, the undisputed genius behind the Beach Boys, started to create an album in 1966 which he then shelved and eventually abandoned. So it was a pleasant surprise to fans when the legendary Smile came back to life in concert, with a world premiere at our Royal Festival Hall last February. In September 2004 the project finally came to fruition as a newly recorded album by Wilson and his band. His nomination for International Solo Artist, at the age of 62, is apt reward. “I’m on a roll,” says Brian, “I don’t know where it’ll end.”
