2004 was quite a year for Franz Ferdinand. The Glasgow four-piece formed in 2001 and being stylish art-school types, they quickly adopted a memorable moniker – choosing that of an Austro-Hungarian Archduke (as you do). While the original Archduke's story was short (his death sparked the outbreak of WW1), Scotland native's Franz Ferdinand's future looks bright. The band released their debut EP Darts Of Pleasure on Domino Records in September 2003 to great critical acclaim. This was followed by the singles Take Me Out (February 2004), Matinee (April 2004) and This Fire (November 2004). The album Franz Ferdinand was released in February 2004 and a much-anticipated follow-up is currently in production.
