Keane started life as a four piece and success almost came when a record deal was signed, but later fell through - leaving the band devastated. Their guitarist Dominic Scott later left and the remaining members - Tom Chaplin (vocals), Tim Rice Oxley (piano) and drummer Richard Hughes – decided to continue as a three piece. They booked two more acoustic shows and were spotted by Fierce Panda records. It proved to be a stepping stone to Island records and the trio haven't looked back since. Soaring vocals and shameless falsettos pepper the May 2004 debut album Hopes And Fears, and the band can count many famous faces as fans of the singles, Somewhere Only We Know February 2004), Everybody's Changing (May 2004), Bedshaped (August 2004) and This Is The Last Time (November 2004).
