New York arts scene darlings Scissors Sisters had a fabulous 2004. Comprising Jake Shears (vocals, founding member), Ana Matronic (vocals), Paddy Boom (drums), Del Marquis (guitar) and Babydaddy (bass), the retro-rock band won UK fans aplenty with their oh-so-cool tunes and tongue in cheek glam style. It was their second single, a hedonist remake of Pink Floyd’s Comfortably Numb (Jan 04) which got them noticed, before Take Your Mama (March 04) and a re-lease of their debut Laura (July 04) broadened their audience. Two more singles, Mary (Oct 04) and Filthy/ Gorgeous (Jan 05) followed, with all being taken from February’s UK. No.1 debut album, Scissor Sisters. Jake and Babydaddy also wrote Kylie’s Dec 2004 single I Believe In You.
