Tom Waits career has spanned over 30 years and more than 20 albums. He is considered by many to be one of the most talented songwriters of his generation. Waits’ first album was 1973’s Closing Time, and cult success followed with albums such as Heart Of Saturday Night (1974), Foreign Affairs (1977) and Heartattacks and Vine (1980). After joining Island Records in 1980, Waits became more experimental and his gravel-voiced lo-fi style inspired songwriters and filmmakers alike. Tom Waits is also an actor with great screen presence - his mutual admiration for Francis Fold Coppolla brought roles in films including Rumble Fish The Outsiders and Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Tom Waits’ BRITs nomination is for the acclaimed 2004 album, Real Gone.
