Paul ‘Bono’ Hewson, Dave ‘The Edge’ Evans, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr formed U2 in at school in Dublin in 1979. Their first album, Boy, was released in 1980. Now named one of Rolling Stone magazine’s ’50 greatest rock ‘n’ roll artists of all time’, the band will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame in 2005. U2 released their 11th official studio album, How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb, in December 2004, with an itunes-advertising single, Vertigo, (Nov 2004) preceding it – and an unprecedented exclusive red and black ipod to go with it. The band contributed to the Band Aid 20 single Do They Know It’s Christmas in 2004 and are set to tour the world in 2005.
